Balloholic JumpStart (2-5) is the first or starter level in the introduction to basketball skills for our students. The
classes will
be movement based with introduction to moving with the basketball and
include lots of fun and activity. We try to have all the students handling their own basketball as much as possible and or moving throughout the class.
Balloholic Fundamentals (Gr.6-7) This program is a step up in frequency and level of coaching. We work hard with this group to improve their skill level and game skills. Practices are filled with drills and games designed to improve their athletic ability and basketball skill in a fun and safe environment. There is a select team at this level which we send to events in March. We have recently added a girls grade 6/7 section to the fall schedule and we're excited to see the response next season.
Balloholic
Development Program This program is in only its second season. It is offered for players in grade 8/9 determined to take their game to the next level , is the only one of its kind in Burnaby. Our program last season was well received by players and parents but we will be improving the format so its accessable to more players. This program features a number of coaches working with our athletes on their fundamentals, improving their level of team play along with their strength and conditioning.
There is an optional day for strength and conditioning with the experts at Performance Institute which is located at Burnaby 8 rinks. This program is guaranteed to make you a better player and give you the tools to become a better athlete over the long term.

BC U13 Club Provincial Champions
We are so very proud of our 2011 U13 Gold team. In our first season in the Metro League and the U13 provincials they were crowned Champions. They defeated the Burnaby Eagles in the final 60-39 after losing to those same Eagles in the semi final. The Balloholics used the convoluted draw to the back door to get back to the championship and capitalized on the second chance. It has been a great season for a great group of kids. They worked so hard and had so much fun together. We have many to thank for getting this group together and supported. Starting with Doreen George at Edmonds Community School who we first talked to last spring with our crazy idea, she seemed to like it as much as me. Along the way we got a hand from Tim Lai at Morley, Princiapal Marilyn Kwok at 12th Ave. Elementary and VP Dino Klarich at Edmonds. The Balloholics with a total U12/U13 group of 30 kids in its first try won their division in both the Metro League and the U13 provincials. Balloholics hold the distinction of being the smallest Steve Nash group in BC. We were successful against programs drawing their teams from hundreds of kids in the age group. Six team members were in their first year of organized sports. They would not have even played basketball this year if not for the Balloholics and KidSport funding they received. Balloholics program works and the we just proved it. Also it is a PROGRAM , its year round and our kids improve. It's not hundreds of kids playing endless games that their parents coach, the Balloholics don't play that many games or have many leagues for your young stars. We work on SKILLS.
