An
original member of our Balloholic Community. Mona joins the board as Director
of Communications and will still be active as a coach in our program.
Mona’s
high school basketball days were short lived after a serious shoulder injury
and surgery. In 1984,she played with the Vancouver Kiwis Ladies team only to
find being a one armed forward was not to her liking.
After
a stint of getting on with life without basketball, she realized after having
her own children that she needed to be back in the gym and hence her coaching
career began.
Her
coaching career started in 1993 as a volunteer with Chilliwack School District
for two seasons, where she first experienced the joy of coaching junior aged
players. She went on to be a gym manager and coach for the Athletes in
Action Friday Night basketball program from1996-1999. The busy mom of two took
a break from the gym to oversee activities at the swimming pool with her own
children, now grown up.
Mona’s
heart has brought her back to the basketball court where she belongs. Over the
last four seasons you have witnessed Mona’s high energy and positive attitude
while assisting Coach Dave or coaching her own teams.
Mona
shares her passion and enthusiasm for the game of basketball with everyone
and she believes whole heartedly in our mandate at Balloholics. Working
very hard to help our athletes succeed meets Mona’s own mandate in life.
Mona's
experience both on and off the court is a valued asset to our program.
