Wayne Best

Wayne been involved in basketball in B.C. for over 20 years. As a player: Played on the '85 BC U17 provincial team that traveled to Arizona and Los Angeles where NBA players Gary Payton, Greg Foster, Mark West , Sean Higgins and LaBradford Smith were among the attendees.

He began his post secondary playing career at Douglas College where he played on the championship BCCAA men's team that placed third at the National Championships in 1989. Wayne continued his playing career at S.F.U under former National team coach and current Toronto Raptor assistant coach Jay Triano.

As a coach he is an NCCP Level 3 certified coach. In 1999 he assisted the Barbados Junior National team in preparation for the Junior Worlds in Moscow 2000. He has led 2 of the 3 senior high school teams he has coached to BC provincial tournament placings. In 2000 he led the AA Langley Saints to 5th place and in 2003 AAA Alpha Aztecs 7th place and 2004 Alpha Aztecs 6th place. He is currently head coach of the AA Byrne Creek Bulldogs where he is also in the Youth Services counseling department. Currently some of his former players are on rosters in college and university teams in B.C.

Wayne is also an avid cricket player and has represented Canada nationally in cricket at the Junior World Cup in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Wayne brings many years of experience in BC basketball to Victory Sports Camps
